ASST DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS/COORDINATOR OF DIVERSITY ENROLLMENT & RETENTION

Salary:
$43,000 / annually, and includes a comprehensive benefits package

Summary:
Under the general direction of the Director of Undergraduate Admission and reporting to the Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions, the Assistant Director for Diversity Enrollment and Retention will develop, implement, and monitor recruitment and retention initiatives for diversity students in accordance with the College’s enrollment plan. The Assistant Director, as a member of the enrollment team, will participate in all aspects of the admissions office, not limited to the diversity initiative, including recruitment travel, interviewing prospective students, and evaluating applications.

Responsibilities:

· Develops and coordinates strategies to increase diversity enrollment in line with the College’s established enrollment goals.
· Provides leadership in the area of diversity recruitment to the admissions staff and assists with the training of enrollment staff regarding diversity concerns.
· Creates and manages a communications strategy to provide information to prospective diversity students and their families.
· Develops partner relationships with targeted schools and coordinates middle school and high school outreach efforts with the Center for Art and Public Life.
· Coordinates admissions efforts for diversity students for CCA’s middle school and high school programs: YASP and Pre-College.
· Assists in the planning of enrollment events focusing on diversity concerns and in the planning of campus visits by diversity students or groups.
· Coordinates the enrollment process for entering diversity students: develops specialized enrollment information for admitted students; assists in the advising, registration, and financial aid counseling for new diversity students.

· Identifies and maintains a database of professional agencies, high school teachers and counselors, and alumni who are particularly interested or involved with diversity students.
· Works closely with others on campus and in the local community to create an effective network to support the recruitment, enrollment, and retention of diversity students.
· Serves as a liaison with the Center for Art and Public Life, Student Affairs, Advising, and Financial Aid, and relevant community groups.
· Serves on college committees and community organizations that are relevant to the support of diversity students.
· Visits high schools, community colleges, community agencies, and college fairs in assigned territory, and as needed.
· Processes and evaluates applications and portfolios for admissions.
· Maintains reports and records on recruitment and application activity.
· Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required, Master’s preferred; extensive experience in college admissions with a diversity focus or working with diversity groups in a non-profit organization. Experience in program development; database management skills; and knowledge of art is highly desirable. The individual must possess an understanding of the challenges of diversity recruitment and a commitment to the importance of diversity at a visual arts college. Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational and interpersonal skills; strict attention to details; demonstrated leadership ability; demonstrated ability to work with faculty, students and staff; self-motivated, goal oriented, strategic thinker, and able to work both independently and as part of an enrollment team. Familiarity with and ability to apply technological innovations to Enrollment Services office operations with strong computer skills in MS Word and Excel. Experience using and supporting Datatel Colleague or similar ERP software preferred.

Additional Information:
Significant travel is required during the peak periods of the recruitment cycle. The individual must be willing to travel 12 – 14 weeks per year (locally, nationally, and internationally) primarily in the fall. Position requires weekends and extended hours, especially during the fall and January through March. Must have access to a car, certificate of insurance, and valid driver’s license.
