Grants and Scholarships

A listing of NACAC and WACAC grant and scholarship opportunities.

In keeping with WACAC’S primary mission to support the efforts of high school and college admission counselors in their work with students, we provide scholarship and grant money to ensure all professionals can participate in professional development opportunities. Particular emphasis is placed on assistance that reaches across ethnic, economic and regionally unsupported areas.

Annual Spring Conference Scholarships

Each year, the WACAC Executive Board offers a limited number of scholarships to encourage new membership and to invite young professionals from secondary and postsecondary counseling/recruitment fields to preview our profession. Each scholarship will include conference fees and on-campus housing (double occupancy) to graduating college seniors, graduate students, high school counselors, and two year and four year counselors/recruiters.

In addition to the new professional scholarships, there are a limited number of matching grants (that's called "tuition reduction" in college lingo!) for first-time secondary and postsecondary counselors/recruiters. The matching grant will only cover the conference registration fee but can help defray some of the costs associated with attending the conference. If you would like to nominate someone for a scholarship or if your institution is interested in sponsoring a counselor, please contact Stephanie Shapiro at or Patty Avila Porter at .

THE DEADLINE TO APPLY FOR WACAC CONFERENCE SCHOLARSHIPS IS NOW CLOSED.

Government Relations Conference Scholarships

Several scholarships are available for WACAC members to the 2008 NACAC Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C., during which members will lobby our state elected officials for educational concerns. More information about the conference and scholarships can be found here.
