NACAC Recap

Hello WACAC Members:

It’s been over a month since hundreds of us attended the National Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, where we gathered to share ideas and deepen professional relationships. As your Executive Board and elected Delegates, our work at NACAC included attending assembly to elect our new NACAC President-Elect and members of the Board of Directors and pass a set of policy motions. (A complete update on assembly and the annual NACAC membership meeting can be found here.) The NACAC conference sessions offered by peers and colleagues reflected the ever-evolving services, priorities, and demands of our work. Additionally, we met as an affiliate to review our annual budget, hear from our committee chairs, and plan for our next Super-Conference in Phoenix, Arizona, in May 2019. Please visit the WACAC website for details about the Super-Conference, membership, and networking & leadership opportunities.

As your immediate Past-President I will continue to strengthen our relationships with public-school counselors, bolster our professional development opportunities for all members, and ensure our expertise reaches under-represented students—in isolated rural areas, in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods, for undocumented students—across California and Nevada. We encourage you to share your insights and expertise. Please consider proposing a session at one of our programs—Share, Learn, Connect or our Super-Conference.

Cheers,

Sonia Ryan
